New "downtown" in North Austin?

This is a very interesting article in the Austin Business Journal about the Gateway/North Burnet area and its potential to become a "second downtown" through the North Burnet/Gateway Plan. The goal of this plan is to refocus the area away from auto-heavy, low-density development to high-density, transit-oriented development and provide a vibrant mixed-use district in North Austin. Already, we can see this happening with the Domain:

The city will present a draft of the plan for anyone interested between 9 am and 11 am tomorrow morning at the ACC Northridge campus. The link below at the city of Austin's site for the North Burnet/Gateway Plan that talks more specifically about site location, involved land planners, architects, and engineers, and tomorrow's meeting.

Please comment- I'm eager to hear what you think of the potential for this area!
