Hot Austin neighborhoods!

The Statesman and the Austin Board of Realtors just put together this comprehensive report on Austin Neighborhood appreciation for 2006. It shows the hottest, fastest growing neighborhoods in and around Austin. MLS area 5, just east of downtown tops the list, and other Central Austin neighborhoods are also in the fastest growing areas.

Additionally, this article includes some interviews with local investors and realtors. They have some great ideas about what areas will continue to grow over the next few years. We agree with most of their assumptions, though we don't see far south Austin having the appreciation that more central neighborhoods and some north neighborhoods will, due to their transportation limitations.

FORECLOSURE FOR DUMMIES

Recently, Texas attorneys received a flyer from the state bar advertising The Texas Foreclosure Manual. The manual is designed to assist attorneys in understanding the foreclosure process with indepth analyses of cases and statutes. Apparently, the state bar recognizes the growing trend in Texas foreclosures and the need to inform attorneys about the process.

THE TAKEAWAY

Publications abound informing prospective buyers how, when and where to buy their homes. However, few publications tell them what to expect if they default on their loans. Documents signed at closing, Texas statutory law and Texas case law outline the process.

The flyer raises an interesting question. If Texas attorneys need assistance, where does that leave the average licensee or homeowner? This article attempts to breach that information gap.
